The intention of this article is to provide you with the knowledge of when a quick calc is needed and how to run a one through the Team tab.
Quick calcs are a very useful tool that can make recording earnings that fall outside of payroll very easy. The most common use for a quick calc is when an employee is given a manual check outside of payroll. The record of that payment still needs to be recorded in the system and running a quick calc is how that gets done.
To arrive to the new quick calc page you'll want to first go to the new Team tab and find the employee you want to run the quick calc for. Once you've found the employee, click on their photo to be redirected to their account. Once you're at their account, click on the Pay drop down button and select the "Quick Calc" option towards the bottom of the drop down menu.
Now that you've arrived to the Quick Calc page the first thing you need to do is to select the pay period you want the record to be attached to. Once you've selected the correct pay period click the "Start" button to begin processing your quick calc.
After clicking "Start" you will be redirected to the processing page. This page will look and function exactly like the Spread Sheet step of the payroll process. Any default salary earnings or deductions that the employee has will automatically populate here. Adding/deleting earnings or deductions can be done by using the action star on the right side of the employee's row.
Once you've added all of the earnings and deductions, click the action star, choose "Calculate Gross to Net," option, hit the "Submit" button, and a window will appear, showing the break down of the calculated payroll. It's with this window that you can make any desired adjustments to FIT/SIT (NOTE: If you do make changes to FIT/SIT using this window, you have to hit the green "Save" button for those adjustments to save). Once everything looks good, you can close out of this pop up box.
Now that the Quick Calc has been processed, all you need to do is click the blue "Submit" button towards the bottom of the processing page and this record will be attached to the payroll you selected.
